Popping in from this weird summer sickness that is finally, possibly winding down with some strong antibiotics to introduce you to Alexis, a girl after my own heart. She’s smart–with degrees and in math and professional chemistry. Plus one of the things she studied back then is chocolate (that may be one of my favorite facts about her). I love her blog, Chemistry Cachet.
One of the other reasons I love sharing with her is close to my heart. If you’ll remember I shared how I stay tenderhearted (I don’t like my chocolate or my heart bitter) in the face of illness. In a crazy twist, Alexis shared how she has lived with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) for over 18 years and detailed seven ways it had been a blessing. It was such a refreshing perspective–with some of those blessings pertaining to everyone and some specifically to her. For example, it has taught her compassion and I think anyone in a trial can learn. It also, specifically in her life, helped her focus on academics where she found her true calling. This post is a must read.
She puts her intelligence to good use these days in her laboratory, as she calls it (her kitchen), and helping students. Eventually she had so many students in so many locations she took her business online where she continues to help in a variety of ways. Her most popular service is academic coaching to help students learn how to be better, more successful students and stay motivated in the most difficult of classes. Since she is also an academic writer, she can also offer writing support for writing and research.
or talking about the simple joys in life. Even though she is a morning person (ha), Alexis is charming, living in Texas and a true Texas girl through and through with her husband (a former marine) and their bulldog, Ruger.
The thing I have learned about Alexis and why I love her blog is her heart for helping for others. The fact that she uses her chemistry background to help make better chocolate cookies is just icing on a very delicious cake. I love that she uses her academic lens to find the simple pleasures and provide helpful tutorials on daily life and DIY in a passionate way while also helping students through her business.
