Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. This is a recipe from Nonna and it is not an Italian item. I know. It’s madness, pure madness. But trust me, so are these Kolackys. They may be my favorite cookie in the world and there is no chocolate in them so you know they have to be extra amazing because I basically don’t do desserts without chocolate. My little sister, who is four and a half, lives for these. Lives. For. These.
One time, when she was newly three, she was sitting at the kitchen table with us and we had set out Nonna’s Kolackys. She double fisted about fifteen of these before we realized she what she was doing. This weekend when I saw her, Nonna came over and brought her own little plate that Nonna said were just for her. She was pretty much ecstatic. Feel free to remove the pretty much from that previous sentence.
Please excuse the photo because randomly, on the day I took it, Nonna decided she was going to use a lot more powdered sugar than normal. I may have said: are you kidding me? a few times.
They aren’t difficult to make. And let me just tell you, after dinner, with some coffee (the Italian way that I showed you), and mmmm, mmmm, mmmm. Seriously.
Here is Nonna’s recipe. One day I am going to just copy and paste a recipe as she emails it to me because it is hilarious (love ya, Nonna).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Beat in egg yolks, vanilla, and add flour a little at a time
