June Reads for Everyone & Anyone.

YA Loves: Before A Fault in the Stars, there was Sarah Dessen and Megan McCafferty. My favorite Dessen is This Lullaby and McCafferty’s Jessica Darling Series (the first one of which is Sloppy Firsts). Top notch.

Dystopian Trilogy: Atwood will forever be one of my favorite authors and her trilogy (beginning with Oryx and Crake) will hold the attention of anyone, let alone someone who eats up any dystopian stories. The world she envisions? creates? is so full. Many times when I read stories about the not too distant future, I feel like there are holes. Not here. Must read.

Crime & Romance: JD Robb’s In Death Series has it all. Try the first one: Naked in Death.

Classic: You can’t beat East of Eden. Sure it’s big but’s so good. And my favorite book of all time.

Must Read Non-Fiction: I want to pass out Carry On, Warrior to everyone I know. Funny and frank essays. She really gets that life is brutiful (brutal and beautiful).

Favorite Read of the Summer Yet: Americanah challenged my way of thinking and made me laugh. Race and romance and humor and immigration and more fuse together at this fictional but very honest look at how we see ourselves, how we see others, and how others see us. It’s so well done, my summary can’t do it justice. Read it.

I just started The Vacationers for next month.

Happy Reading! Have you read any of these? Are any on your list? You can click on the carousel and buy straight from there if one peaks your interest. Talk to me. Books=Love.

This Lullaby and Sloppy Firsts are two of my all-time favorite books! This Lullaby is definitely my favorite Dessen book too 🙂 I have The Vacationers on my TBR list, so I can’t wait to hear what you think of it once you read it!

Yessssss! Thank you so much for the list. I am always looking for recommended books and based on your list we just might be kindred spirits. I already read Carry On Warrior and it’s probably one of my favorite memoir type books to date. I’m definitely saving this list for when I finish re-reading The Fault In Our Stars (I plowed through it in two days the first time..and I needed to read it again at a slower pace haha).

I have told three different bloggers about this book today but I just finished Reconstructing Amelia and it was really good! Very Gone Girl esq! Recommend it!

Oh girlfriend. I am all over those YA loves and Dystopian choices. Thanks for being my resident (kind of?) novel expert 🙂

start with the YA ones first…the Atwood trilogy is heavier than the latest dystopian trends 😉
